- Early blooming selections flower on old wood or last years shoots and should have these branches thinned out along with flowering stems after flowering. Cut back to within a few inches of the old wood.
- Late blooming plants have strong new growth and flower on this years stems. They can be cut back to the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
