David Austin English: David Austin has created these hardy modern hybrids with the best characteristics of the Victorian era and a full bodied English rose. They have large, exceptionally double blossoms with the incredible fragrance of old roses and disease resistant foliage. A great choice for cut flowers, antique or cottage gardens and as the centerpiece of a rose planting. While we still feel these grow better on the west coast, there is no denying their popularity with the public across the United States. Two areas of concern for New England gardeners are our humid summers (leading to the increased possibility of rose diseases) and the cold winters of the northeast. In both instances common sense in placement, a watchful eye and a few winter precautions will overcome these obstacles. We have also tried to pick out varieties from this vast breeding program that offer the best qualities for the homeowner. So you can feel confident in choosing one of the following varieties and enjoy their overwhelmingly beautiful attributes.
Rosa
'Abraham Darby'
