A hardy Nikko Fir from Japan, quite tolerant of some shade. Lovely light green needles with a blue undercast and showy winter buds add to the charm. May eventually reach 120'. Z5

Graceful, mounding dwarf noble fir. Grows to 3' high by 5' wide. Z5
Acer mandshuricum
A fantastic small maple that develops an upright, spreading crown. Reaches a height of 30' with a slightly smaller spread. Foliage turns a magnificent rose-red color in early October. Z4

'Winter Lightning'
Bright orange winter shoots shine in any garden giving this maple extremely good winter interest. Brilliant yellow foliage appears in the fall. All other characteristics are the same as the species. Z5.

'Aoyagi'
Aoyagi has small, bright green leaves changing to a pumpkin orange in autumn. The most interesting feature is the surprising bright pea-green twig bark. It is so prominent that it is considered the green counterpart to A. ‘Sango kaku’. The twig color is held through the winter making for a striking winter interest plant when contrasted with fallen snow.

This upright maple is a semi-dwarf suitable for containers or a front entry planting. It has a slow growth rate with iridescent pinkish-red spring color turning to deep red in fall. Beni maiko translates to “dancing girl” and this cultivar is prized for its interesting leaf shape. Z5

'Arthur J. Simmonds'
Originating out of Surrey, England, this is reported to be the hardiest of the Caryopteris. Powder blue flowers hover above silver gray foliage on a small shrub 3’x3’. Caryopteris are valuable for their late bloom time, extended flowering and blue color.

A versatile plant that prefers moist, fertile soil but tolerates other conditions as well. Can be planted in sun or partial shade. Bell shaped flowers appear in late May to early June. Z4

‘Schmidtcis’ is a nice intermediate plant that is faster growing and larger than P. cistena but smaller than a ‘Newport’. Typical purple leaves hold their color well into the summer and compliments light-pink, fragrant flowers. 14’ in 15-20 years with a rounded shape. Zone 4.

A pleasing medium-sized tree, growing to 20-25' with a pyramidal outline. Korean Pear is smaller and more formal than ‘Aristocrat’. Fall color of orange and red is a bit earlier, too. Good drought tolerance. Zone 4. #A6630.

'Westwood'
This unique tree has a compact and rounded shape reaching 12’x15’ in 15 to 20 years. The white flowers in spring are set against finely textured green foliage that turns purple-red in autumn. This would make a great substitute for a crab apple. Zone 4.

A more dissected leaf variety of Cutleaf Staghorn Sumac with large seed pods, very colorful, orange-gold foliage in fall and velvety branches. Z4

More bluish in color than the giant sequoia and is proving to be hardier than the species. Grows over 12" per year and in 15 years will be 10 to 15'.

Similar to 'Anthony Waterer' but slightly taller at 3'-31/2'. It has larger leaves and brighter flowers but it is just as adaptable to heat and drought. Z4

Smaller growing than japonicus, with graceful pendulous branches. Masses of white bells dangles from the wide spreading branches. An excellent tree for the smaller patio. Large Specimen. Z5

Orange-yellow needles are a bonus on this arborvitae valued for its very narrow and upright form. Plant in full sun to achieve the best color and utilize where space is limited. Zone 5.

An upright and rapid growing Canadian Hemlock. New spring growth is a lovely bright gold changing to a rich green the rest of the year. Z4

Thumbnail sized leaves make this graceful shrub/small tree (8x8) a special addition to any sized landscape. Slow growing, plant in sun to part sun. Z5

This incredible hardy shrub grows 6' and displays wonderful cream florets in June and bears fruit in the fall. Also offers vivid red fall color. Z4
