Delivery
We deliver plants throughout New England and Metropolitan New York City via our own fleet of trucks. If your trunk just isn't large enough to hold all your plant purchases - rest assured - we'll deliver them to your doorstep or even plant them if need be!
Within Connecticut, plants are scheduled on a weekly basis. Refer to the chart of locations and associated fees to determine the cost of delivery to your town.
Outside of Connecticut, delivery is on a per order basis. The cost is $45 per man hour round trip with a minimum purchase of $500 in plants.
Example: A delivery to Boston, MA from portal to portal would be calculated at 6 hours total time for one man x $45 = $270.
All deliveries are curbside and based on one man per truck.
Further requirements regarding placement or planting of plants needs to be discussed and estimated at the time of purchase. Any additional work (i.e. moving plants to the back yard, up stairs etc...) is NOT included in the delivery price. In this way we can keep our prices as low as possible and still provide the service you've come to know at Twombly's.
Items weighing over 150lbs require a second person or help must be provided at the receiving end.
We recommend gardeners outside of New England, who would like to take advantage of our varied plant selections, to group an order together between garden club members or neighbors. Entire landscapes of mature and hard to find plants can be shipped via refrigerated trucks to remote areas of the country.
Planting
We offer full planting services for all plants purchased at the nursery. For single trees or a small group of plants the rate is generally one half the cost of the retail value of the plants. For perennial gardens and larger plantings, we would estimate on a per job basis. All trees, shrubs & roses planted by us are guaranteed 100% for the cost of the plant and the planting. Guarantee
Our plants are guaranteed to be true to name. This guarantee refers to that claim and is limited to the purchase price of the plant. The health and well-being of our plants is guaranteed at the time of purchase. If plants are planted by us, the plant and planting is guaranteed. We are not responsible for environmental concerns such as but not exclusive to insects, disease, drought, improper location or seasonal storm damage. We will replace these plants at any point if the proper cultural conditions are met as determined by our horticultural staff. Any plants bought at the Nursery (on a cash & carry or account basis) are not guaranteed unless an overall crop failure has occurred at the Nursery. Replacement plants are not guaranteed.
Plants must be accompanied by a receipt. There are no guarantees on past due accounts. Plants must be brought back to the nursery for inspection, or inspected on site by Twombly's (if the plant is too large to transport), before replacement or credit is given. If the plant is not available and a suitable replacement cannot be made, a store credit will be issued. Perennial and annual plants are not covered by this guarantee.
